How To Measure For Window Screen?
Window measurements is the first step when you decide to buy a new or replace your window screens or door screens. The correct measurements can make the installation easier and the insect screens can be perfectly fit.
Step 1: Decide Installation Way: Recess fit/Inside Mounting or Face fit/ Outside Mounting
Proper window recess depth is ideal for the recess fit installation method. In this way, the window screen is installed within the window recess and the window screen would not be protruded. In most European houses, there is enough window recess space for the screen windows.
Recess fit / Inside Mounting:
An insect screen window that is fitted within the window recess is normally referred to as an internal fixing / recess fit, and will be about the same size as the window, and it will fill the window area.
In this case, you need to take measurements of the window recess depth to make sure there is enough space to hold the window screens.
Face fit / Outside Mounting:
An insect screen window that is fitted outside of the recess is normally referred to as an external fixing / face fit, and is attached to the wall above the window, covering both the window and part of the wall on either side of the recess.
Step 2: Take measurements of the window opening
Window width and height might vary between different points. Don't feel puzzled. Just follow my steps:
Measure three points of the width from up to the middle to the bottom, and pick the minimum measurement;
Measure three points of the height from left to the middle to the right, and pick the minimum measurement.
Note: No matter what types of windows you have, if your window panels open outward, screen windows should be installed inside;
if your window panels open inward, screen windows should be installed outside.
